POP Peeper v5.5

It is important to note that data saved with v5.5 is not backward-compatible with previous versions, including v5.4. This means that once you install v5.5, it's not recommended that you go back to a previous version unless you also restore from a backup from the previous version (specifically: poppeeper.ini and all data.db files). The main reason for this is that POP Peeper v5.5 has improved security and uses new encryption algorithms which the older versions won't recognize.
Another related change in v5.5 is that it supports OpenSSL v3.0. OpenSSL v1.1 (used by POP Peeper v5.4) is out of support by openssl.org and will not receive any more updates.
v5.5 contains a slew of other changes: mostly fixes, optimizations and back-end improvements.
OPTIONAL - update existing databases
By default, existing message databases will not get the new encryption algorithms applied to them. However, new accounts you create will have the new encryption algorithm. If you want to apply the new encryption algorithm to your existing databases, follow these instructions:
NOTE: depending on the number of accounts, messages and database size and your computer specs, this process can take a while. As a very rough estimate, expect 1 minute for every 10,000 messages; assuming you have a modern system with an SSD.
IMPORTANT (This issue has been fixed in v5.5.1) This procedure should not be performed in v5.5.0 if you have any password-protected accounts. If it is, there will be a conflict loading the database and you will need to enter your *login* password to access the account (which you should then change back or disable).
1) OPTIONAL: make a backup of your ini file and data files; if you backup, this should be done before updating to v5.5.
-> These can be found under: Tools / Options / Storage
-> Assuming your ini file is in the same folder as you data files, I recommend simply doing a copy/paste of POP Peeper's data folder. You can delete this backup folder in the future once you've verified that v5.5 has correctly updated your data files.
2) Exit POP Peeper -- Main menu: File / Exit
2b) --> Make sure that PPv5.5 is installed at this point
3) Run the following command-line; you may need to alter the file path if you installed POP Peeper somewhere else (e.g. portable)
"C:\Program Files (x86)\POP Peeper\POPPeeper.exe" -UpdateEncrypt *
(The asterisk means all accounts, you can replace the asterisk with a single account name if you'd like to test it on one account)
4) You will see a series of progress bars as each account is processed. Don't restart POP Peeper until this finishes; you will receive a "completed" prompt.
5) Restart POP Peeper
